Whether the issue is mechanical or electronic in nature we can diagnose the problem and help you decide if the repair is financially feasible. Very often older digital piano parts are no longer supplied by the original manufacturer, but we have suppliers that can provide us with after market parts that will work in your older generation digital piano. East Cambridge Piano is an authorized service center for Yamaha and Korg pianos.
We are always looking for good used pianos. If you have a piano you're looking to sell we'd love to talk to you. Please call or email us.

East Cambridge Piano was established in 1978 by James Nicoloro. While attending Berklee College of Music in Boston for percussion and arranging, he also worked as an apprentice piano tuner and technician. Discovering that there was a demand for reasonably priced student pianos, he began finding old neglected upright pianos from churches, schools and hotels and reconditioning them in a small garage in East Cambridge. Soon after the business moved to a store-front on Cambridge Street in East Cambridge, a neigborhood where his family had a very well known local market. The exposure over the next 10 years made it necessary for the business to move to a much larger facility to encompass rebuilding and refinishing. Eventually that building was sold to a developer and the shop moved two miles down the road in Somerville to a grand old building which was built by "The Knights of Malta". Customers often comment what a nice vibe the shop has and how cool it must be to work here, well it is, and if you visit us you will discover that our craftsmen are musicians as well and we think that is an important attribute to help guide you to finding the right piano.
James is a member of the Don Hemwall Jazz Trio .
After graduating from Berklee College of Music with a B.A. in Music Production and Engineering, Jay became an audio engineer where he honed his critical listening skills. He has been playing the drums for many years, but somehow knew that some day he would learn to play the piano. That day came when he bought his first piano at East Cambridge Piano from James Nicoloro. James took Jay under his wing and taught him the time-honored tradition of piano craftsmanship. Jay promptly enrolled in the North Bennet Street School in the North End of Boston, where under the guidance of master technicians, he received his piano technician certification. He then became a member of the Piano Technicians Guild (PTG). Jay has built (and continues to build) long-term relationships with every customer, one customer at a time.
A pianist and piano teacher, Reed became interested in piano technology after purchasing his own instrument from East Cambridge Piano. In 2008 he started working at the shop has since honed his technicial skills under James' careful tutelage and watchful eye.
A graduate of UMass, Reed also studied at Berklee College of Music and spent a number of years writing computer software. He teaches tradiltional and improvisational piano to both younger and adult students .
Ian moved from Nashville after graduating with a degree in Audio Production from Middle Tennessee State University. Ian worked his way through school restoring and repairing vintage Fender Rhodes and Wurlitzer electric pianos, and quickly found work at East Cambridge Piano upon moving to Somerville in the winter of 2011. Ian also runs an analog recording studio in Arlington and works as a freelance recording engineer and producer.
